EV Charger Error

Onboard Charger Fault

Updated March 2026

Share

This is general guidance based on the ChargeX MREC standard. Actual charger behavior varies by manufacturer and firmware version. Always follow on-screen instructions and contact the charging network if you are unsure.

Critical

Your vehicle's built-in AC charger has a fault. This component converts AC power from the charger to DC power for your battery. DC fast charging may still work because it bypasses the onboard charger.

What to do

  1. Try DC fast charging to see if the issue is specific to AC charging
  2. Restart your vehicle and try AC charging again
  3. Check for a vehicle software update
  4. Contact your vehicle manufacturer. The onboard charger may need service or replacement

Who's responsible?
