Charging Time

EV Charging Time by Model

How long it takes to charge your electric car depends on three things: the battery size, the charger power, and your car's onboard charger limit. A bigger battery takes longer, but a faster charger shortens the wait. Find your model below to see estimated charging times at home, public AC, and DC fast chargers.

Understanding Charging Times

DC fast charging (10-80%) is the most useful benchmark for road trips. Most drivers charge from 10% to 80% because charging slows significantly above 80%. The times shown above are DC fast charge times from 10% to 80%.

Home charging (7 kW) is what most people use overnight. A typical home wallbox delivers 7 kW, which fully charges most EVs in 6 to 12 hours depending on battery size.

Public AC (11-22 kW) chargers are common at shopping centers and workplaces. Charging speed depends on your car's onboard charger limit. Many cars accept only 11 kW AC even on a 22 kW charger.
