We collect as little as possible

We collect as little data as possible. Our services are designed to work without collecting personal information beyond what is needed for core features. Sign in with Apple is used for account management and cross-device sync. This policy covers both our website (evcourse.com) and our mobile app (EVcourse).

Data Controller

The data controller for EVcourse is Oy Finnovatec Ltd, a company registered in Finland. For privacy requests, contact finn@evcourse.com.

Website: no personal data collected

We do not collect, store, or process personal user data on our website.

When you use the EVcourse website:

• Your inputs are stored locally in your browser only
• We do not maintain a user database for the website
• We do not require account creation on the website
• If you allow location access, it is used only in your browser and is not sent to our servers

The EVcourse app is designed with privacy in mind

The EVcourse app is designed with privacy in mind. The app uses Sign in with Apple for account management.

Data We Collect

All data is anonymous by default. Nothing is linked to your identity unless you choose to sign in with Apple to sync your data across devices, for example when you get a new phone.

• Anonymous device ID — app functionality
• Anonymous usage data — service improvement
• Charging feedback (optional) — logging your charging sessions
• Team code (optional) — links feedback to your team. Your company sees aggregate data only, never individual activity.
• Location (optional) — finding nearby chargers
• Car model (optional, stored locally) — personalized results
• Scan text — photos stay on your device, only extracted text is sent for interpretation
• Apple Sign-In (optional) — name and email for account management. Not shared or used for marketing.
• Purchases — handled by Apple. We do not collect payment details.

You can disable location, camera, or notifications in your device settings at any time. You can reset your anonymous identifier by reinstalling the app.

Tracking: we do not track you

We do not track users across apps or websites. The app does not use third-party tracking SDKs or ad networks. The app does not use cookies.

Your data stays on your device or with GDPR-compliant providers

Most data is stored locally on your device. If you join a team, charging feedback syncs to our cloud infrastructure hosted in the EU. All data is transmitted over encrypted connections.

How We Use Information

We use the collected information to:

• Provide and improve our app content and charging help
• Analyze which scenarios are most helpful for EV drivers
• Understand regional charging challenges
• Improve app performance and user experience

Analytics: anonymous, no cookies

Website: We collect aggregate, non-personal usage statistics. Our website analytics do not use cookies, do not track individual users, and are GDPR-compliant.

Mobile App: We collect anonymous usage analytics to improve the app. We use Sentry for crash reporting. No advertising or tracking SDKs are used.

Payments: handled by Apple, not us

In-app purchases are processed by Apple. EVcourse does not collect or store your payment card details. See our Terms of Service for details.

We do not sell your data

We do not sell or rent your personal data. We may share anonymous, aggregate statistics that cannot identify any individual user. If you join a team, your feedback is shared with that team in aggregate only. A Data Processing Agreement (DPA) is available on request via finn@evcourse.com.

You can delete your data anytime

• Anonymous analytics events: Retained for the lifetime of the service to improve content
• Charging feedback: Retained until you delete your account
• Account data (Apple Sign-In): Retained until you delete your account, or up to 3 years after last activity
• Purchase records: Retained as required by Finnish tax and accounting law

You can reset your anonymous identifier by reinstalling the app. You can delete your account in the app via Profile > Delete Account, or by emailing us.

Your rights: access, delete, export

Under the EU General Data Protection Regulation, you have the following rights:

• Right to access: Request a copy of your data by emailing us
• Right to deletion: Delete your account in the app (Profile > Delete Account), or request deletion by email
• Right to rectification: Contact us to correct any inaccurate data
• Right to data portability: Request a machine-readable copy of your data
• Right to object: Object to processing based on legitimate interest at any time

Your Rights (CCPA / California)

If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) gives you additional rights:

• Right to know: Request what personal information we collect and how we use it
• Right to delete: Request deletion of your personal information
• Right to opt out of sale: We do not sell your personal information to third parties
• Right to non-discrimination: We will not treat you differently for exercising your privacy rights

Device Controls

You can disable location, camera, or notification access in your device settings at any time. You can reset your anonymous identifier by reinstalling the app.

App Store Privacy Labels

Our App Store privacy labels reflect our data practices. We do not track you. Data linked to you (name, email) is collected only if you sign in with Apple, and both are optional. See our App Store listing for the full privacy label.

Encrypted in transit and at rest

Your data is encrypted in transit and at rest. We store it with trusted, GDPR-compliant service providers.

Children's Privacy

Our services are not intended for children under 16. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 16. If you believe we have collected such information, please contact us at finn@evcourse.com and we will delete it promptly.

AI: photos never leave your device

EVcourse uses on-device text recognition to read charger and car screens. Photos are processed on your device and never leave it. Extracted text (and your car model, if set) may be sent to a third-party AI service for interpretation. No photos are ever sent.

The AI provides informational guidance only. No automated decisions are made about users. No biometric data is processed. Troubleshooting content is human-written by EV charging specialists.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
