EV Charger Error

Battery Too Hot to Charge

Updated March 2026

Share

This is general guidance based on the ChargeX MREC standard. Actual charger behavior varies by manufacturer and firmware version. Always follow on-screen instructions and contact the charging network if you are unsure.

Warning

Your vehicle's battery temperature is above the safe charging range. The battery management system is limiting or stopping charging to protect battery health. This can happen after hard driving in hot weather or after repeated fast charging sessions.

What to do

  1. Wait for the battery to cool down. Park in shade if possible
  2. Do not attempt to fast charge again immediately. Give it 15 to 30 minutes
  3. AC (slow) charging may still work at a reduced rate
  4. If this happens frequently, contact your vehicle manufacturer
