Last Mile Delivery

Citroën ë-Berlingo for Last Mile Delivery

Updated March 2026

The Citroën ë-Berlingo is a compact electric van built for urban deliveries where maneuverability matters as much as cargo space. With a WLTP rated range of about 215 km, it handles most daily routes but leaves less buffer than larger vans. Our app users report that understanding range limits in advance helps avoid stressful midday charging stops.

Why the Citroën ë-Berlingo?

  • Compact size makes tight city streets and loading docks easier to navigate
  • 800 kg payload handles small parcel and food delivery loads well
  • Lower purchase price compared to larger electric vans keeps fleet costs down
  • 11 kW AC charging fills the battery overnight at the depot without special infrastructure

Key Specifications

Charging Strategy for Last Mile Delivery

Charge overnight at the depot on an 11 kW AC wallbox. A full charge takes about 5 hours, making it easy to fit into any shift schedule. On days with routes approaching 200 km, plan a quick DC top-up at a public fast charger during the midday break. The 100 kW DC charging adds about 80 km in 15 minutes.

Overnight AC charging (recommended)

Plugging in at a depot or home charger (7-22 kW) overnight fully replenishes the battery. At 11 kW, the Citroën ë-Berlingo charges from empty in approximately 4.5 hours, easily done overnight. For faster turnaround, a 22 kW charger is recommended.

Mid-day DC top-up

If overnight charging is not available, a DC fast charge during a break can add enough range. At 100 kW peak, the Citroën ë-Berlingo charges from 10% to 80% in roughly 35 minutes.

Based on 150 km/day, 22 working days/month. EV: 233 Wh/km at EUR 0.12/kWh (depot charging). ICE: 7 L/100 km at EUR 1.70/L.

Practical Tips

  • Keep the ë-Berlingo for shorter urban routes and assign longer suburban routes to vans with more range.
  • Avoid running the battery below 15% regularly, as this increases charging time and stresses the battery.
  • In cold weather, expect 20-30% less range. Pre-heat the cabin while still plugged in to save battery for driving.
  • The ë-Berlingo does not support battery preconditioning, so DC fast charging may be slower in cold conditions.

Operational Notes

The 215 km WLTP rated range covers the typical 150 km delivery day, but the buffer is tighter than larger vans. Heavy loads, cold weather, or hilly terrain can reduce range noticeably. Best suited for urban routes under 180 km. Plan a midday top-up for anything beyond that.
