EV Charger Error

Plug and Charge Failed

Updated March 2026

Share

This is general guidance based on the ChargeX MREC standard. Actual charger behavior varies by manufacturer and firmware version. Always follow on-screen instructions and contact the charging network if you are unsure.

Warning

Automatic Plug and Charge (ISO 15118) authentication did not work. This feature lets your car automatically identify itself and start billing without a card or app, but it requires both the charger and your vehicle to support it.

What to do

  1. Not all chargers support Plug and Charge. Check if this network supports it
  2. Use your RFID card or the network's app as a backup payment method
  3. Check your vehicle's settings to make sure Plug and Charge is enabled
  4. Contact the charging network if Plug and Charge previously worked at this station

Who's responsible?

  • This may be a vehicle issue
  • The charging network operator needs to fix this
