Updated March 2026

Share

This is general guidance based on the ChargeX MREC standard. Actual charger behavior varies by manufacturer and firmware version. Always follow on-screen instructions and contact the charging network if you are unsure.

Warning

The charger denied your request to charge. Your RFID card, app account, or payment method was not accepted. This can happen if your account has expired, your card is not registered with this network, or there is a roaming issue between networks.

What to do

  1. Check that your RFID card or app account is active and has credit
  2. Try a different payment method (different card, different app, contactless)
  3. Some networks require you to register before first use. Check the network's app
  4. If using a roaming provider, the connection to this specific network may be down

Who's responsible?

  • This may be something you can fix yourself
  • The charging network operator needs to fix this
