Scanner Use Case
Destination charger at a hotel? Scan the screen to get started.
Updated March 2026
The situation
You arrived at a hotel and they said there is an EV charger in the parking area. You found it, but it is a brand you have never used, the screen shows options you do not recognize, and the front desk person just shrugged when you asked how it works. It might be free, it might charge per kWh, it might need a hotel-specific code.
How the scanner helps
Scan the charger screen to understand the setup. The scanner tells you whether authentication is needed, what the pricing structure is (if shown), and how to start the session. You can charge overnight without worrying that you missed a step and will wake up to an uncharged car.
What to do
- 1
Scan the charger screen at the hotel parking area
- 2
Check if the scanner identifies a required access code or app
- 3
Note the pricing information if displayed
- 4
Start the session and verify charging has begun before heading to your room
