The situation

You pulled off the highway for your first fast charge. The charger is larger than anything you have used before, with thick cables, multiple connectors, and a screen showing power numbers in the hundreds of kW. It is louder too, with fans running. Everything about it is unfamiliar and slightly intimidating.

How the scanner helps

Scan the screen and the scanner demystifies the rapid charger. It explains the power readout, identifies which connector you need (CCS, CHAdeMO, or both), and walks you through the authorization process. The fans and the thick cables are normal. The scanner helps you focus on what matters.

What to do

  1. 1

Scan the charger's welcome or status screen

  2. 2

Identify which connector the scanner recommends for your car

  3. 3

Follow the authorization steps identified by the scanner

  4. 4

Scan again during charging to understand the power and estimated time display
