Tesla Superchargers in Austria charge approximately 0.55 EUR per kWh. The Austrian average DC price is about 0.55 EUR per kWh, so Tesla is right at the market rate. Home electricity costs around 0.28 EUR per kWh, making home charging roughly half the price of public DC.

Tips for Charging with Tesla Supercharger in Austria

  • You need the Tesla app or a contactless card at V4 stations to start charging. Set up your account and payment method before your trip, or use contactless payment at V4 stalls.
  • Austria uses CCS2 for DC fast charging. All Tesla Superchargers here have CCS2 connectors, so any CCS-compatible EV works.
  • If you are driving through Austria to Italy or Slovenia, plan a Supercharger stop in the Inntal or near Graz. The alpine routes between these stops can drain your battery faster due to elevation changes.
  • Austrian Autobahn rest stops (Raststationen) often have multiple charging options. If the Supercharger is full, check what else is available at the same location.

Common Issues

  • Alpine driving between Supercharger stops can use more energy than expected due to elevation changes. Plan conservatively.
  • The Tesla app occasionally has trouble finding the station if GPS signal is weak in mountain valleys. Open the app before you enter a tunnel.
  • Power sharing at busy stations during ski season or summer holidays can reduce speeds below the 250 kW maximum.
  • Cold weather in winter, especially at higher-altitude stations, affects charging speed. Precondition your battery.

Austria has several other fast-charging networks along its motorways, including well-established domestic operators, so alternatives are usually nearby.
