Charging Strategy for Company Cars
Home charging overnight on an 11 kW wallbox covers all daily needs. A full charge takes about 7 hours. With 420 km range and a 60 km commute, charging once a week is typical. For business trips, DC fast charging at 149 kW adds about 150 km in 20 minutes. Use Google Maps in the car to find chargers along your route and check real-time availability.
Overnight AC charging (recommended)
Plugging in at a depot or home charger (7-22 kW) overnight fully replenishes the battery. At 11 kW, the Polestar 2 charges from empty in approximately 6.8 hours, easily done overnight.
Mid-day DC top-up
If overnight charging is not available, a DC fast charge during a break can add enough range. At 149 kW peak, the Polestar 2 charges from 10% to 80% in roughly 35 minutes.
Running Costs: EV vs. Diesel

Estimated monthly savings
€129/month
Based on 60 km/day, 22 working days/month. EV: 179 Wh/km at EUR 0.12/kWh (home charging). ICE: 7 L/100 km at EUR 1.70/L.
Practical Tips
- The built-in Google Maps shows charger locations, availability, and pricing. Encourage employees to use the car's nav rather than separate apps.
- NMC battery. Set daily charge limit to 80% and reserve 100% for trips that need the full range.
- DC fast charging is 149 kW peak. For long business trips with multiple stops, each stop takes about 25-30 minutes for a meaningful charge.
- The optional heat pump improves winter range. If ordering for a fleet, the heat pump option is worth the cost in colder climates.
Operational Notes
The 420 km WLTP rated range is seven times the typical 60 km daily commute. The Polestar 2 is well suited for company car use, especially for employees who appreciate a premium feel without the traditional luxury brand. DC fast charging at 149 kW is adequate but not the fastest in class. For frequent long-distance business trips, the charging speed may feel moderate.
