Share

This is general guidance based on the ChargeX MREC standard. Actual charger behavior varies by manufacturer and firmware version. Always follow on-screen instructions and contact the charging network if you are unsure.

Warning

The charger and your vehicle could not complete their initial communication handshake within the expected time. The charger gave up waiting for your car to respond.

What to do

  1. Unplug, wait 15 seconds, and plug in again
  2. Make sure your car is in park and awake (not in deep sleep mode)
  3. Turn the car on and ensure the charging screen is active before plugging in
  4. Try a different charger. Some chargers have stricter timeouts than others

Who's responsible?

  • This may be a vehicle issue
  • This is likely a charger hardware issue
