EV Charger Error

Connector Overheating

Updated March 2026

Share

This is general guidance based on the ChargeX MREC standard. Actual charger behavior varies by manufacturer and firmware version. Always follow on-screen instructions and contact the charging network if you are unsure.

Critical

The temperature sensor in the charging connector is reading too high. This can be caused by a loose connection, worn contacts, or high ambient temperature. The charger will reduce power or stop.

What to do

  1. Do not touch the connector if it feels very hot
  2. Let it cool down before unplugging
  3. Try a different connector. Worn contacts cause resistance heating
  4. Report to the charging network

Who's responsible?

  • This is likely a charger hardware issue
