What Does Charge Port Door Stuck Mean on an EV Charger?

Your vehicle's charge port door will not open. This can be caused by ice, a mechanical latch issue, or an electrical problem with the release mechanism.

What to do

  1. In cold weather, try gently pressing around the edges of the port door to break any ice
  2. Try locking and unlocking the car. Some vehicles reset the port door latch this way
  3. Check your vehicle's manual for a manual release mechanism
  4. Do not use sharp tools to pry it open. This can damage the door and port
