CHAdeMO Connector Lock Failure

Updated March 2026

Share

This is general guidance based on the ChargeX MREC standard. Actual charger behavior varies by manufacturer and firmware version. Always follow on-screen instructions and contact the charging network if you are unsure.

Warning

The CHAdeMO connector failed to lock into your vehicle's charging port. CHAdeMO connectors have a mechanical lock that must engage before charging starts.

What to do

  1. Remove the connector and reinsert it firmly. CHAdeMO connectors are heavy, so support the weight
  2. Check for debris or ice in the charge port
  3. Try lifting the connector slightly while inserting to align it properly
  4. Move to a different charger if the lock mechanism seems damaged

Who's responsible?

  • This may be something you can fix yourself
  • This is likely a charger hardware issue
