EV Charger Error

Cable Not Connected

Updated March 2026

Share

This is general guidance based on the ChargeX MREC standard. Actual charger behavior varies by manufacturer and firmware version. Always follow on-screen instructions and contact the charging network if you are unsure.

Warning

The charger does not detect a cable connection. For chargers with a fixed cable, the connector may not be fully inserted. For chargers requiring your own cable, the cable may not be plugged in on the charger side.

What to do

  1. Check both ends of the cable: the vehicle side and the charger side
  2. Push the connector firmly into the port until it clicks
  3. For Type 2 AC chargers, make sure your own cable is securely connected to the charger socket first
  4. Check for debris or ice in the connector or port

Who's responsible?

  • This may be something you can fix yourself
