What Does Waiting for Vehicle Mean on an EV Charger?

The ABB Terra charger has authenticated successfully and is ready to charge, but the vehicle has not started the charging handshake. The charger is waiting for the car to respond.

  1. Don't unplug while the charger is active. Wait for the screen to update.
  2. Try stopping and restarting the session from the charging app or RFID card.
  3. If the error persists, move to a different connector or charger if available.

What to do

  1. Make sure the connector is fully inserted into the vehicle charge port
  2. Check that the vehicle is not in a delayed charging mode or timer
  3. Lock your vehicle. Some cars require the doors to be locked before charging begins
  4. Unplug, wait 10 seconds, and plug in again
  5. If the issue persists, try a different connector or charger
