Winter Range

MG ZS EV Winter Range

Updated March 2026

The MG ZS EV's 370 km range and 68.3 kWh battery face a tougher winter challenge because it lacks both a heat pump and preconditioning. Drivers using our app report that at -10C, expect around 30% range loss. At -20C, losses can reach 40%, reducing the effective range to about 220 km. In cold weather, expect roughly 321 km at -10°C, a loss of about 27%. These are estimates and your actual range will vary. Check your vehicle's manual for exact specifications.

Maximizing Winter Range

  • Warm the cabin while the ZS EV is plugged in before you leave. Without a heat pump, the resistive heater draws heavily from the battery, so starting warm from grid power is essential.
  • Use heated seats as your primary comfort source. Turn the cabin heater down to the minimum comfortable level and rely on seat heating to stay warm.
  • Park in a garage or sheltered area overnight. Without preconditioning, keeping the battery warm passively is your best option for preserving morning range.
  • Plan conservatively in winter. The ZS EV's 370 km summer range may drop to 220-260 km in cold weather, so keep charging stops closer together on longer trips.
  • Drive gently in the first 10-15 minutes after a cold start. The battery and drivetrain are less efficient when cold, and aggressive driving amplifies the range loss.
