Winter Range

Mercedes-Benz EQC Winter Range

Updated March 2026

The Mercedes-Benz EQC has a heat pump as standard but lacks preconditioning, which makes winter range management more hands-on. Based on what our users tell us, the EQC's 370 km range drops more noticeably in cold weather because you cannot warm the battery before departure. The heat pump helps with cabin heating efficiency, but starting cold affects both range and charging speed. In cold weather, expect roughly 300 km at -10°C, a loss of about 27%. These are estimates and your actual range will vary. Check your vehicle's manual for exact specifications.

Maximizing Winter Range

  • Since the EQC does not have preconditioning, try to park in a garage or sheltered area in cold weather. A warmer starting temperature means better battery performance and less energy spent heating the cabin.
  • Use the EQC's heated seats and steering wheel as your primary heating source. Without preconditioning, every kWh saved on cabin heating directly extends your driving range.
  • Keep the EQC plugged in when parked in cold conditions. While it cannot precondition, maintaining a connection helps keep the battery at a more moderate temperature.
  • The EQC's consumption (21.6 kWh per 100 km) is already on the higher side, and cold weather adds to this. Plan for 25-30% less range at -10C and charge more frequently in winter.
  • When DC fast charging in cold weather, the EQC's battery may charge slower than its 112 kW peak because it cannot warm the battery in advance. Allow extra time at charging stops during winter.
