Winter Range

Mercedes-Benz EQB Winter Range

Updated March 2026

The Mercedes-Benz EQB has a standard heat pump and preconditioning that help maintain range in cold weather. Drivers using our app report that the EQB performs reliably in winter, though its larger cabin (with available third-row seats) does need more energy to heat than smaller EVs. At -10C, expect about 20% range reduction from the 415 km rated range. In cold weather, expect roughly 391 km at -10°C, a loss of about 27%. These are estimates and your actual range will vary. Check your vehicle's manual for exact specifications.

Maximizing Winter Range

  • Precondition the EQB through the Mercedes me app while plugged in. Warming the larger cabin from grid power is especially important in winter, as heating the third-row space draws more energy than a standard compact SUV.
  • Use heated seats for occupied positions only. Heating empty seats wastes energy. The EQB's seat heaters use a fraction of the energy that the full cabin heater needs.
  • Keep the EQB plugged in when parked outdoors in cold conditions. This maintains battery temperature and ensures the heat pump and battery perform optimally on your next drive.
  • In freezing conditions, the EQB's 102 kW DC charging speed may be temporarily lower until the battery warms up. If stopping at a fast charger, give the battery a few minutes to reach its optimal temperature.
  • Lower the cabin temperature by a degree or two and rely on the heated steering wheel and seats instead. Over a full day of driving in winter, this small change can save 10-15 km of range.
