Winter Range

Kia EV3 Winter Range

Updated March 2026

The Kia EV3's winter performance depends on whether your version has the optional heat pump. With a 78 kWh battery and 455 km rated range, expect around 325-365 km in mild cold with a heat pump, or 295-340 km without one. Based on what our users tell us, the EV3's generous range for a compact SUV means winter driving is less of a concern than in smaller-battery EVs. In cold weather, expect roughly 442 km at -10°C, a loss of about 27%. These are estimates and your actual range will vary. Check your vehicle's manual for exact specifications.

Maximizing Winter Range

  • Precondition through the Kia Connect app or the car's departure timer while plugged in. This warms the cabin and battery on grid power, giving you a full, warm battery for your drive.
  • If your EV3 has the optional heat pump, cabin heating is efficient. Without it, prioritize heated seats and the heated steering wheel for personal warmth and keep the cabin temperature lower.
  • Set your winter charge limit to 90%. The EV3's 78 kWh battery provides good range even in cold weather, and the extra 10% gives a meaningful buffer for unexpected detours.
  • The EV3 supports DC fast charging at up to 135 kW, which is moderate. In cold weather, battery temperature limits the actual speed. Drive for at least 15 minutes before stopping at a charger to let the battery warm up naturally.
  • Park in a garage when possible. The EV3's battery benefits from staying warmer overnight, which means less energy is needed to warm it up in the morning and better range from the start.
