  • Precondition the IONIQ 5 through the Bluelink app or the car's scheduled climate feature while plugged in. This warms the battery and cabin on grid power, giving you a full, warm start.
  • If your IONIQ 5 has a heat pump, cabin heating is efficient. If it does not, use the heated seats, heated steering wheel, and keep the cabin temperature at a moderate level to conserve range.
  • Set your winter charge limit to 90%. The IONIQ 5's 80 kWh battery at 90% provides a comfortable range buffer for cold-weather driving.
  • The IONIQ 5's 800V architecture charges fast even in winter once the battery is warm. Drive for at least 15-20 minutes before stopping at a DC charger, or use the preconditioning feature to warm the battery in advance.
  • The IONIQ 5's crossover shape creates more drag than a sedan. In cold weather, reduce highway speed by 10 km/h to offset the combined effect of cold air density and aerodynamic drag on range.
