Winter Range

BYD ATTO 3 Winter Range

Updated March 2026

The BYD ATTO 3's 330 km range benefits from its standard heat pump, which helps reduce winter range loss compared to EVs without one. Drivers using our app report that at -10C, expect about 20% range loss with the heat pump active. At -20C, the loss reaches roughly 28%, still leaving around 240 km of usable range. In cold weather, expect roughly 307 km at -10°C, a loss of about 27%. These are estimates and your actual range will vary. Check your vehicle's manual for exact specifications.

Maximizing Winter Range

  • Use the ATTO 3's standard heat pump to your advantage. Keep the climate system in auto mode so it uses the heat pump efficiently rather than switching to full resistive heating.
  • Warm the cabin while the ATTO 3 is still plugged in. The BYD app lets you start climate control remotely, drawing from the grid instead of the battery.
  • BYD's LFP Blade Battery handles cold weather differently than NMC batteries. It is more tolerant of full charges, so charging to 100% before a cold-weather trip gives you the maximum possible buffer.
  • Use heated seats and lower the thermostat. The ATTO 3's heat pump is efficient, but reducing the heating load still extends range noticeably.
  • Drive smoothly and use regenerative braking. The ATTO 3's regen system helps recapture energy that would otherwise be lost to braking, which adds up in winter city driving.
