Maximizing Winter Range

  • Precondition through the BMW app while plugged in. The iX3 has a spacious cabin, and warming it on grid power means your 108.7 kWh battery starts fully charged and at optimal temperature.
  • The iX3's standard heat pump keeps cabin heating efficient. Use zone climate control to heat only occupied seats, and lean on the heated seats and steering wheel for personal warmth.
  • You may not even need to adjust your charge limit in winter. At 80%, the iX3 still has about 350-390 km available in cold weather, which exceeds the total range of many smaller EVs.
  • The iX3's 400 kW DC fast charging is powerful, but cold batteries limit how much of that speed you can use. Let the car precondition the battery via navigation routing before arriving at a charger.
  • Reduce highway speed slightly in severe cold. The iX3's SUV profile creates more drag in cold, dense air, and at high speeds this compounds with the general winter efficiency loss.
