How to Pay at Recharge in Norway

Recharge in Norway accepts the Recharge app, RFID charging cards, and contactless bank cards. Norwegian EV drivers commonly have RFID cards from various providers that work at Recharge through roaming. Contactless payment at the charger is the simplest option if you do not have a card or app set up.

Recharge charges approximately 0.49 EUR per kWh. The Norwegian DC average is about 0.45 EUR per kWh (in NOK equivalent), so Recharge is close to the market rate. Home electricity in Norway is around 0.12 EUR per kWh thanks to hydropower, making any DC fast charging roughly four times the home cost. Even so, Norway's electricity prices remain among the lowest in Europe.

Tips for Charging with Recharge in Norway

  • CCS2 is the connector at all Recharge stations.
  • Recharge accepts the app, RFID cards, and contactless payment, giving you flexibility.
  • Norway uses NOK. Check if Recharge prices in NOK or EUR, and watch for any conversion fees.
  • Battery preconditioning is essential in Norwegian winters. Your car should warm the battery automatically if you set a fast charger as your navigation destination.
  • Recharge stations are often located at shopping centers, gas stations, and rest stops, making it easy to combine charging with other stops.

Common Issues

  • Cold weather reduces charging speed significantly. Always precondition the battery before arriving at the charger.
  • Popular stations near Oslo, Bergen, and Stavanger can be busy, especially on weekends.
  • In northern Norway, distances between any charging stations can be very long. Plan with extra margin.
  • RFID card authentication occasionally fails on the first tap. Try again or switch to contactless card payment.

Norway has a mature fast-charging market with several well-established networks, so alternatives are typically available nearby.
