Recharge in Finland

Updated March 2026

Recharge operates fast-charging stations across Finland's highway network, delivering up to 300 kW via CCS2 connectors. Finland's cold climate makes charging behavior unique, as battery temperature plays a major role in how fast you can charge. Drivers using our app emphasize the importance of preconditioning in Finland, where winter temperatures regularly drop below minus 20 degrees Celsius. Recharge stations are expanding along the main corridors connecting Helsinki, Tampere, and beyond.

How to Pay at Recharge in Finland

Recharge in Finland accepts the Recharge app, RFID charging cards, and contactless bank cards. Finland uses EUR, so no currency conversion is needed. Finnish charging cards from various providers often work at Recharge through roaming agreements.

Recharge charges about 0.49 EUR per kWh. The Finnish DC average is approximately 0.45 EUR per kWh, making Recharge close to the market rate. Home electricity in Finland is around 0.14 EUR per kWh, one of Europe's lowest, so DC fast charging costs roughly 3.5 times what you would pay at home.

Tips for Charging with Recharge in Finland

  • CCS2 is the connector at all Recharge stations in Finland.
  • Finland uses EUR, so pricing is displayed in the currency you pay.
  • In winter, precondition your battery. Set the fast charger as your navigation destination so the car warms the battery automatically.
  • RFID cards and contactless payment are both accepted. Contactless is faster in cold weather when you want to minimize time outside.
  • Distances between charging stations can be long, especially north of Oulu. Plan conservatively.

Common Issues

  • Cold temperatures drastically reduce charging speed without preconditioning. This is the number one issue in Finland.
  • Station spacing in northern Finland can be long. Always check that your route has coverage before setting off.
  • Snow and ice around charging bays can make footing slippery. Be careful when getting in and out of your car.
  • RFID card readers can occasionally have issues in very cold weather. Contactless bank card is a reliable backup.

Finland has other fast-charging networks, including a major domestic operator, that provide coverage along similar highway corridors.
