App-only payment with no contactless fallback
Mobilize Fast Charge stations require the Mobilize app to start a session. There are no contactless card readers or RFID options at most stations. If the app is not working, you cannot charge.
Symptoms
- No card reader or RFID pad visible on the charger
- Charger screen displays a QR code that leads to the Mobilize app
- You arrived without the app installed and cannot start a session
- The app is installed but you do not have an account set up
How to Fix It
- 1
Download the Mobilize app and create an account before your trip
This is essential. Without the app, you cannot use Mobilize Fast Charge stations at all. Set up your account and payment method while you have a stable internet connection.
- 2
Try a roaming app as a backup
Some Mobilize Fast Charge stations are accessible through roaming providers like Chargemap, Shell Recharge, or Plugsurfing. Check your roaming app's map to see if the specific station is covered.
- 3
Scan the QR code on the charger
If you do not have the app, scan the QR code with your phone camera. It will redirect you to the app store to download Mobilize or, in some cases, to a web-based session start page.
- 4
Check mobile data coverage
Mobilize stations at highway locations sometimes have weak mobile signal. If the app cannot connect, try switching between Wi-Fi and mobile data, or move to a spot with better reception before starting.
