You have plugged the cable into your IONIQ 6's right rear charge port, but nothing happens. No LED light, no confirmation on the curved display, no charging.     Open the charge port door on the right rear fender. The IONIQ 6's flush design means the flap needs a deliberate press to pop open. Insert the CCS2 connector firmly until you hear or feel a click. The charge port LED should illuminate.

    If Plug & Charge does not start the session automatically, tap your RFID card on the charger's reader, use the charging network's app, or try contactless payment. Having a backup method is always good practice.

Hyundai IONIQ 6 Charging Slower Than Expected at DC or AC

The IONIQ 6 is the most aerodynamic EV sedan on the market, and its 800V architecture supports up to 233 kW DC charging. When you see 50 kW on a charger screen instead of 200+, it feels like something is broken. In most cases, slow charging on the IONIQ 6 comes down to battery temperature, charger voltage compatibility, or a setting in the car that limits power.

  • DC fast charging speed well below the 233 kW maximum
  • AC charging stuck at 3-4 kW instead of the full 11 kW on 3-phase

  • Screen says 'Use app to start' with no contactless option shown
  • Contactless symbol is printed on the charger but the reader light is off
  • You see a payment terminal but tapping produces no response

  • You cannot read the price, status, or error messages on the screen
  • Screen appears to be off but the charger is actually on
  • You have to cup your hands around the screen to read it

    Stand to block direct sunlight from hitting the screen. Even partial shade can make the display readable.

    All session information (charging speed, energy delivered, cost, estimated time) is available in the app. You do not need the charger screen to track your session.

    If you cannot read the screen at all, use the Atlante app to select the charger, start the session, and stop it when done. This avoids needing to interact with the screen.

Cable connector requires specific angle to lock

Some Atlante charger cables need to be inserted at a particular angle or with extra force for the CCS2 connector to seat properly. If it is not fully locked, the session will not start.

  • Connector feels like it is in but the charger does not recognize it
  • Charger screen says 'Connect cable' even though the cable is plugged in
  • You hear a partial click but the connector is not locked
  • Connector slides back out after you let go

How to Fix It

    Some Atlante CCS2 connectors need a slight upward tilt after the initial push to engage the locking mechanism. You should feel and hear a solid click.
