Scanner Use Case
Just picked up a rental EV? Scan the dashboard before you drive off.
Updated March 2026
The situation
You are at the rental counter and they just handed you the keys to an electric car you have never driven. The dashboard is full of unfamiliar icons and the counter staff gave you a 60-second overview. You are about to drive off and you are not sure how to read the range estimate, find the charging port, or even tell if it is charged enough to reach your destination.
How the scanner helps
Scan the dashboard while you are still at the rental lot. The scanner identifies the battery level, range estimate, charging status, and any warning indicators. You will know exactly how much range you have and what everything means before you pull out of the lot.
What to do
- 1
Scan the dashboard before leaving the rental lot
- 2
Check the identified range estimate and battery percentage
- 3
Note the connector type the scanner identifies for your rental
- 4
Save the scan results for reference during your trip
