Charging Strategy for Home Care and Field Service
The standard MG4 has a 6.6 kW onboard AC charger (11 kW optional), so overnight charging takes about 9-10 hours on the standard charger. This is fine for nightly home charging. With 360 km range and 100 km daily needs, charging every second or third night works well. DC fast charging at 142 kW is impressively quick, adding about 100 km in 15 minutes.
Overnight AC charging (recommended)
Plugging in at a depot or home charger (7-22 kW) overnight fully replenishes the battery. At 11 kW, the MG MG4 charges from empty in approximately 9.3 hours, easily done overnight.
Mid-day DC top-up
If overnight charging is not available, a DC fast charge during a break can add enough range. At 142 kW peak, the MG MG4 charges from 10% to 80% in roughly 30 minutes.

Practical Tips
- Check whether your MG4 has the 6.6 kW or 11 kW AC charger. The standard 6.6 kW charger takes almost twice as long for a full overnight charge.
- The MG4 has a 1-phase AC connection. On a 3-phase wallbox, it will still charge at its maximum AC rate, not the wallbox's full capacity.
- DC fast charging is a strength of the MG4 at 142 kW. For emergency top-ups, it performs better than most cars at this price point.
- Consider ordering the 11 kW AC option for fleet vehicles. The faster overnight charging gives more flexibility for scheduling.
Operational Notes
The 360 km WLTP rated range easily covers the typical 100 km daily requirement. The MG4 is a strong budget option for field service teams. Note that the standard 6.6 kW AC charger is slower than competitors. If your team charges at the depot and needs faster turnaround, order the 11 kW AC option or use a 22 kW wallbox (it will charge at 6.6 kW or 11 kW depending on the charger installed).
