Mercedes-Benz eSprinter for Construction and Trades
Updated March 2026
The Mercedes eSprinter brings serious range and cargo capacity to construction and trades work. Its 113 kWh battery delivers 330 km of WLTP rated range, the most of any electric van, and 1,200 kg payload handles heavy materials. Drivers tell us the extra range removes the worry of reaching remote job sites on a single charge.
- Daily need
- 80 km
- WLTP range
- 440 km
- Winter range (-10°C)
- 321 km
- Range ratio
- 5.5x daily need
Why the Mercedes-Benz eSprinter?
- 330 km WLTP rated range is the longest of any electric van, ideal for distant job sites
- 1,200 kg payload carries heavy tools, building materials, and equipment
- 113 kWh battery provides massive buffer for cold weather and loaded driving
- 2,000 kg towing capacity handles trailers for larger construction jobs

Charging Strategy for Construction and Trades
Charge overnight at home or the yard on an 11 kW AC charger. The large 113 kWh battery takes longer to fully charge overnight, but daily consumption of about 27 kWh at 80 km only requires a partial charge. For the fastest turnaround, a 22 kW charger is recommended. DC charging at 115 kW takes about 42 minutes from 10-80%.
Overnight AC charging (recommended)
Plugging in at a depot or home charger (7-22 kW) overnight fully replenishes the battery. At 11 kW, the Mercedes-Benz eSprinter charges from empty in approximately 10.3 hours, easily done overnight. For faster turnaround, a 22 kW charger is recommended.
Mid-day DC top-up
If overnight charging is not available, a DC fast charge during a break can add enough range. At 115 kW peak, the Mercedes-Benz eSprinter charges from 10% to 80% in roughly 69 minutes.
Running Costs: EV vs. Diesel
EV monthly fuel cost
€72
Diesel monthly fuel cost
€209
Estimated monthly savings
€137/month
Based on 80 km/day, 22 working days/month. EV: 342 Wh/km at EUR 0.12/kWh (home charging). ICE: 7 L/100 km at EUR 1.70/L.
Practical Tips
- The 330 km range means you rarely need to think about charging during the workday, even with heavy loads
- A 22 kW AC charger is strongly recommended due to the large battery, an 11 kW charger needs over 10 hours for a full charge
- When towing a trailer, consumption increases significantly, plan those days with extra range buffer
- The LFP battery chemistry tolerates daily charging to 100% without long-term degradation concerns
Operational Notes
The eSprinter far exceeds the 80 km daily requirement with 330 km range. Even with heavy loads reducing efficiency, the massive battery provides comfortable margin. The 1,200 kg payload and towing capability suit demanding construction work.
