How to Calculate Opel Mokka Electric Charging Costs
Calculating your charging cost comes down to two numbers: how much energy your car uses, and how much you pay for that energy. Here is the formula.
Cost per 100 km = (consumption in Wh/km × 100 ÷ 1000) × price per kWh
Cost per full charge = battery capacity in kWh × price per kWh
Example: Opel Mokka Electric at home
If your home electricity costs €0.25 per kWh (a rough European average), and the Opel Mokka Electric consumes approximately 178 Wh per kilometer:

Should You Charge to 80% or 100%?

- Charge at home overnight whenever possible. The Mokka Electric's 50.8 kWh battery is small enough to fully charge on a standard home wallbox in under 8 hours, and home electricity rates are typically a fraction of public charger prices.
- Use the Mokka's eco driving mode to reduce consumption below the rated 16.4 kWh/100 km. Lower consumption means fewer charging sessions and lower costs over time.
- Avoid relying on 100 kW DC fast chargers for daily top-ups. Save fast charging for road trips and use slower AC charging for everyday needs, where per-kWh prices are usually much lower.
- Charge to around 80% for daily driving. The Mokka Electric's charging speed drops significantly above 80%, so you spend more time (and sometimes more money at time-billed chargers) filling that last 20%.
- If you have the optional heat pump, keep it enabled. It reduces energy used for cabin heating, which means less battery drain and fewer charging sessions, especially in cooler weather.
For the lowest cost per kilometer, try to do most of your charging at home or at your workplace. The Mokka Electric's 310 km range means most drivers can go several days between charges. When you do use public chargers, AC charging stations are generally cheaper than DC fast chargers, so plan ahead when you can.
