S-Group RFID card not starting the charger
You tap your S-Etukortti or S-Group RFID card on the reader, but the charger does not respond or shows an error. S-Group uses its own card system, which is separate from third-party charging RFID cards.
Symptoms
- Charger shows 'Card not recognized' after tapping your S-Etukortti
- RFID card from another charging network (like Shell Recharge or Virta) does not work
- Card reader beeps but the session does not start
- You recently received a new S-Etukortti and the old one worked fine
How to Fix It

Verify your card is registered for ABC-lataus
Not every S-Etukortti is automatically linked to ABC-lataus charging. Log in to the S-mobiili app or s-kanava.fi and check that EV charging is activated for your card. You may need to accept separate terms for the charging service.

Hold the card still on the reader for 3 to 5 seconds
The card readers at ABC-lataus stations can be slower than retail payment terminals, especially in cold weather. Hold the card flat against the reader and wait for a confirmation beep or screen change.

Check if third-party RFID cards are supported at this station
ABC-lataus primarily works with S-Group's own cards and the ABC-lataus app. Third-party roaming RFID cards (from Virta, PlugSurfing, or others) may not be accepted at all stations. If your non-S-Group card is rejected, use the app instead.

Try starting the session through the ABC-lataus app
If your RFID card is not cooperating, open the ABC-lataus app, select the station, and start the session from your phone. This bypasses the physical card reader entirely.
