Why Your Charging Speed May Differ

The Fiat E-Ducato supports up to 50 kW DC charging. Electra chargers deliver up to 300 kW. Your car's maximum intake is the limiting factor here, capping speed at 50 kW even on a faster charger.

  • Charging slows down above 80% state of charge on most EVs, including the Fiat E-Ducato.
  • Cold weather reduces charging speed. Preconditioning may not be available on all Fiat E-Ducato variants.

Fiat E-Ducato Charging Problems

Fiat E-Ducato Charger Will Not Start Charging

You plugged in the CCS2 cable and the charger is not starting. Or the app shows an error and you are stuck in a parking lot with deliveries waiting. Most charger start failures on the E-Ducato are about authentication, the cable connection, or the charger itself. Here is how to get it going.

    Pull the connector out completely, wait 10 seconds, and push it back in firmly. Make sure the charge port flap is fully open and clean.

    Check for mud, salt, ice, or other debris in the port. The E-Ducato is driven in tough conditions. Wipe the port with a dry cloth if needed.

Fiat E-Ducato Charging Slower Than Expected at DC

You stopped at a 150 kW charger and the E-Ducato is pulling only 50 kW. Before you troubleshoot, know this: 50 kW is the E-Ducato's maximum DC charging speed. This is a hardware limitation, not a fault. A 10-80% DC charge takes about 55-60 minutes. If you are seeing significantly less than 50 kW, or your AC depot charging is slow, there are things to check.

    If the charger shows less than 50 kW, something else is limiting it. Check the battery temperature on the dashboard. If the battery is cold, drive for 20-30 minutes before your next charging stop.

Common Electra Issues

Reservation feature shown in app but not functional

The Electra app displays a reservation option for some stations, but the feature is not yet active or is only available at select locations. You may plan your stop expecting a reserved stall only to arrive and find no reservation system in place.

  • App shows a 'Reserve' button but tapping it gives an error or does nothing
  • You reserved a stall but there is no indication at the station that any stall is reserved for you
  • Reservation confirmation appears in the app but the charger does not recognize it
  • Other drivers are using the stall you thought was reserved

    Until Electra confirms that reservations are fully operational at a specific station, treat the feature as unavailable. Plan your stop based on real-time availability instead.

How to Fix It

  • Cable will not pull out far enough to reach your car
  • Cable is stuck in the retracted position and does not release
  • You can pull the cable out but it snaps back when you let go
  • The cable management arm or reel makes grinding noises

    Some retraction systems have a release point. Pull the cable with consistent pressure rather than jerking it. You may feel a click when the lock releases.

App language defaults to French

Electra is a French company and the app sometimes defaults to French, especially after updates or when creating a new account. If you do not read French, navigating the app becomes difficult.

  • Notifications and emails from Electra arrive in French

  • Check the app for station amenities. Electra stations often have lounges, restrooms, coffee, and WiFi. Knowing this in advance helps you plan your stop.
  • Do not rely on the reservation feature until Electra officially launches it at your target station. Use real-time availability instead.
