Winter Range
Renault 5 E-Tech Winter Range
Updated March 2026
The Renault 5 E-Tech comes with a standard heat pump and preconditioning, which are especially important for a car with a compact 52 kWh battery. Based on what our users tell us, the Renault 5 handles winter well for its size, and the heat pump helps keep range loss modest. At -10C, expect about 20% less range from the 335 km rating, leaving roughly 270 km. In cold weather, expect roughly 301 km at -10°C, a loss of about 27%. These are estimates and your actual range will vary. Check your vehicle's manual for exact specifications.

Maximizing Winter Range
- Precondition the Renault 5 via the My Renault app while plugged in. The compact cabin heats up quickly, so even a short warm-up session saves meaningful battery energy for driving.
- Use the heated seats as your primary heat source for short trips. The Renault 5's small cabin stays warm once heated, so you can turn down the main heater after the first few minutes.
- Keep the Renault 5 plugged in when parked in cold weather. With a 52 kWh battery, cold-soaking has a proportionally larger impact on available range than on bigger-battery EVs.
- The Renault 5's low consumption (15.5 kWh per 100 km) works in your favor in winter. Even with 20% range loss, its per-kilometer energy cost remains lower than most competitors.
- In very cold conditions (below -20C), expect about 28% range loss, leaving roughly 240 km. For daily commuting this is still adequate, but plan slightly more frequent charging on longer winter trips.
