Winter Range

Fiat 500e Winter Range

Updated March 2026

The Fiat 500e's compact 37.3 kWh battery and 235 km range make winter driving a real consideration. Without a heat pump, cold weather cabin heating pulls heavily from the small battery. Drivers using our app report that at -10C, expect about 30% range loss, and at -20C, losses can reach 40% or more, leaving you with as little as 140 km of usable range. In cold weather, expect roughly 243 km at -10°C, a loss of about 27%. These are estimates and your actual range will vary. Check your vehicle's manual for exact specifications.

Maximizing Winter Range

  • Always precondition the cabin while plugged in. With only 37.3 kWh, every bit of energy saved on heating matters more than in a larger-battery EV.
  • Use heated seats as your primary warmth source. The 500e's cabin heater draws significant power from the battery, so keeping the thermostat low and using seat heating extends your range noticeably.
  • Charge more frequently in winter. The 500e's already modest 235 km range can drop to 140-165 km in cold weather, so plan to plug in every day rather than every other day.
  • Keep trips short and urban. The 500e is a city car, and in winter it is best used for shorter journeys where range loss is manageable and chargers are nearby.
  • Park in a garage whenever possible. The small battery loses proportionally more range from cold-soaking overnight than larger-battery EVs.
