Choosing an electric car is hard when every review talks about range but never about your commute. The EVcourse range simulator lets you enter your actual daily driving distance and see how a specific car's battery holds up over a full week.

What the simulator shows you

Your battery level, day by day, for an entire week. Set your daily driving distance, charge target percentage, vehicle age, and outside temperature. The simulator calculates overnight charging, daily consumption, and shows you exactly when (or if) you would run low.

Why temperature and age matter

Cold weather and older batteries both reduce range. A car that easily covers your commute in summer may need mid-week charging in winter. The simulator lets you adjust temperature to see the difference. Vehicle age simulates gradual battery degradation, so you can compare a new car versus one that is three or four years old.

How to try it

  1. Go to the electric car list and pick a model.
  2. Adjust daily driving distance to match your commute.
  3. Set the charge target (most manufacturers recommend approximately 80% or 90% for daily charging).
  4. Change temperature and vehicle age to see how range holds up in different conditions.
  5. Compare two or three cars that interest you.

The simulator uses WLTP rated range, which is lab-tested by the manufacturer. Actual range varies with driving speed, terrain, weather, cabin heating, and load. Use the simulator as a planning tool, not a guarantee. Check your vehicle's manual for exact specifications.

From Finn, engineer and EVcourse co-founder: We built this simulator because every EV review talks about maximum range on a perfect day. Nobody tells you what happens on a cold Tuesday in January when you have driven 80 km and still need to get home. That is the question this tool answers.

Common questions about the range simulator

How does the EVcourse range simulator work?

Enter your daily driving distance, charge target, vehicle age, and local temperature. The simulator calculates how your chosen electric car's battery level changes throughout a typical week, showing whether you need to charge mid-week or if overnight charging covers your commute.

Is the EVcourse range simulator free?

Yes. The range simulator on the EVcourse website is completely free with no account needed. You can compare over 150 electric cars and adjust all parameters without limits.

How accurate is the range simulator?

The simulator uses WLTP rated range as its baseline and adjusts for temperature, battery degradation, and daily driving distance. WLTP range is lab-tested, so actual range varies with driving speed, terrain, weather, cabin heating, and load. Use the simulator as a planning tool, not a guarantee.

Which electric cars can I simulate?

The simulator includes over 150 electric car models from 50+ brands, covering most cars available in Europe and North America. Each model uses manufacturer-published battery capacity and WLTP range data.
