Charging Costs

Cost to Charge BMW iX3 in Belgium

Updated March 2026

The BMW iX3 carries a large 108.7 kWh battery and consumes about 178 Wh/km, delivering an impressive 610 km range. That big battery means each full charge uses a lot of energy, so where you charge has a major impact on costs. Drivers using our app report that the iX3's massive range often reduces the need for public charging entirely on most weeks. In Belgium, average home electricity costs around €0.36/kWh and DC fast charging averages €0.60/kWh. These are estimates. Always check your vehicle's manual for exact specifications.

Tips to Reduce Charging Costs

  • Home charging is critical with a 108.7 kWh battery. A full charge at home can cost a fraction of what it costs at a public DC fast charger. Consider a 22 kW wallbox if available to shorten overnight charging times.
  • Schedule charging to off-peak hours through the BMW app. With 108.7 kWh to fill, the cost difference between peak and off-peak rates is larger than for any smaller-battery EV.
  • The iX3 supports DC fast charging at up to 400 kW, which is exceptionally fast. On road trips, 10 to 80% takes remarkably little time, but avoid charging above 80% unless you truly need the range.
  • With 610 km of total range, you can set a daily home limit of 70% and still have over 425 km available. This reduces battery stress and means you charge less energy each night, lowering cost.
  • Use the iX3's regenerative braking settings to maximize energy recovery. In city driving, strong regen can meaningfully reduce your effective consumption below the rated 178 Wh/km.

The iX3's enormous range means most drivers can charge at home once or twice a week and never visit a public charger for daily commuting. Set a conservative home limit of 70-80% and only charge to 100% before long road trips. When you do use DC fast charging, the 400 kW peak makes stops impressively short.
